The Bow Valley Regional Transit Services Commission (BVRTSC) was formally established on April 21, 2011.
The BVRTSC is a government agency, made up of the towns of Banff and Canmore and Improvement District 9, and is authorized to provide public passenger transportation services in the Bow Valley.
The BVRTSC operates as Roam Transit and provides transportation service locally within the towns of Banff and Canmore. Additionally, Roam Transit provides direct service regionally from Banff to Canmore and Lake Louise.

The BVRTSC Board of Directors regular meeting is held monthly, at 2 p.m. on the second Wednesday of each month, at the Roam Transit Operations and Training Centre (111 Hawk Avenue) in Banff, and online. Objectives
1) Support broader sustainable transportation plans for each of our administrative partner communities to support:
- Transportation choice by providing accessible and convenient transit
- Reduced vehicle congestion
- A cultural shift toward walking, cycling and use of other sustainable Transportation options of the future
- Climate action
2) Be known as an employer of choice, with low employee turnover and high employee engagement.
3) Be celebrated as an accessible, easy to use transit system because BVRTSC is the preferred way to travel and is integrated with other active travel modes.
Mission Statement
We provide sustainable, accessible and convenient public transit, so residents and visitors to the Bow Valley are able to travel without the use of a private vehicle.
It shall be the mission of the BVRTSC to:
- Create new and enhanced transit services that are part of a regional transit system that would enhance the experience of existing riders and attract new riders and visitors to the Bow Valley Region
- Increase the share of local and regional trips completed on transit within the Bow Valley Region
- Enhance the transit customer’s experience in using transit and their knowledge of the Bow Valley Region
- Provide integration between local, regional and seasonal transit services
- Provide excellent customer service to transit passengers
- Improve air quality and reduce greenhouse gas emissions from the transportation sector
- Reduce deaths and injuries on local and provincial roadways
- Raise the local and international awareness of the sustainable transit mobility options within the Bow Valley region.
