Refund Policy

General Refund Policy:

Tickets and passes are generally non-refundable once purchased. The policy below outlines the specific fare types and their unique requirements. Please be aware that we do not refund fares due to changes in travel plans, change of mind, service interruptions, or loss of the ticket. We strongly advise passengers to carefully plan their travel and verify their purchase before completing the transaction.

Ticket Purchase Locations:

  • On the bus
  • In person at The Banff Visitors Centre
  • Through the Token Transit app
  • Ticket Vending Machines (at select bus stops)

Specific Pass Refund Details:

Token Transit App Passes:

  • Unused Passes: If your ticket purchased via Token Transit remains unused, you are eligible for a refund. Please provide the cell phone number linked to your Token Transit account.
  • Activated Passes: Refunds will not be issued for activated Token Transit passes, including Single Ride, Day Passes, 10-Ride, and Monthly Passes.

Visitor Centre Purchases:

  • Single Ride Passes: Refunds are available for Single Ride passes purchased on the same day from the Banff Visitors Centre.
  • Day Passes and Multi-Ride Passes: No refunds will be issued for Day Passes or Multi-Ride passes (10-Ride, 1, 3, or 6 month Passes).

On Bus Purchases

  • No-Refund Policy: There are no refunds issued for any type of passes purchased directly on the buses.

Ticket Vending Machine Passes:

  • Single Ride Passes: Refunds are available for Single Ride passes purchased on the same day only.
  • Day Passes and Multi-Ride Passes: There are no refunds issued for any Day or Multi-Day passes purchased from Ticket Vending Machines, including Day Passes, Multi-Day Passes, Multi-Ride Passes, and System Wide Day Passes.

Lost Smartcard Refund Procedure:

If you lose your registered Smartcard that contains a multi-ride pass, please provide your name and telephone number. We can look up your Smartcard and:

  • Issue a refund for the remaining value on your pass, or
  • Apply a credit for the remaining value to a new multi-ride pass along with a new $3 Smartcard deposit.
