- Reservations for June open at 9 a.m. MT on April 23rd
- Reservations for July open at 9 a.m. MT on May 25th
- Reservations for August open at 9 a.m. MT on June 22nd
- Reservations for September & October (until the 12th) open at 9 a.m. MT on July 27th

Booking & Using your Reservation
How do I purchase a one-way or round-trip reservation?
Please note, this ticket option does not include access to Moraine Lake, and cannot be upgraded.
- Click the ‘RESERVE NOW’ button above when reservations are available.
- Select ‘One Way Reservations’ from the options available.
- Choose your travel date(s) and number of passes per fare type (Adult, Youth, Senior & Child). Children 12 & under ride for free, but still require a reservation.
Ensure you select the correct fare type; this cannot be adjusted once your booking is complete. - Select your preferred 8X departure time(s).
- Enter passenger details and payment (credit card only).
- After payment, your booking is confirmed and you can download the ticket to your device. Additionally, your ticket will be sent to you via email (please check your spam folder).
- Have your ticket ready when boarding (printed or downloaded). Ensure your device has sufficient battery.
Why is there a $3 booking fee?
A non-refundable $3 reservation fee is charged per booking to offset reservation system costs.
How do I use my ticket on the 8X Banff-Lake Louise service?
- Ensure your entire group is at the bus stop at least 20 minutes before your departure time.
- Join the ‘Reservation’ line at the 8X bus stop.
- Have your tickets printed or downloaded on a device before arriving. We need to see each rider’s ticket.
- A team member will ask to see your ticket(s) before boarding.
- Late arrivals reservations are cancelled. You will then be required to join the back of the ‘walk-up’ line, where the wait time may be up to 2 hours.
Where exactly is the 8X bus stop at the Banff High School Transit Hub?
On the 300 block of Banff Avenue, opposite The Ptarmigan Hotel. Look for the “8X Lake Louise” sign. Waiting at the wrong stop will cause you to miss your departure.
Is there parking at the Banff High School Transit Hub?
No, there is no parking available at the Banff High School.
Please refer to the Town of Banff’s website for information on parking, most people take advantage of the 9-hour free parking at The Banff Train Station.
Why is the time on my Apple or Google Wallet ticket different than what I booked?
Apple & Google Wallet tickets are displayed in your local time. When you arrive in Banff / enter Mountain Time, your tickets will update.
Note – your PDF tickets show the departure time for Banff’s local time zone.
Can I reserve travel between Lake Louise Village and Lakeshore?
No. From May–October, Roam does not operate between Lake Louise Village and Lakeshore. Reservations are exclusively available between Banff and Lake Louise.
What if I miss my departure time?
You are only guaranteed a seat on the bus you have a reservation for, provided your entire group is at the bus stop 20 minutes before your departure.
If you are late, you are considered a no-show and your reservation will be cancelled.
You can use your ticket on any other 8X departure that day, however the wait time may be up to 2 hours.
Can I take a different departure time?
You are only guaranteed a seat on the bus you have a reservation for, provided your entire group is at the bus stop 20 minutes before your departure.

Changes & Cancellations
Can I modify my booking?
Yes, you can modify your booking up to 2 hours before your scheduled departure time.
Please note, modifications are often not available due to departures being sold out.
Can I cancel my ticket?
Yes, you have the option to cancel your reservation before your scheduled departure date and time. However, there are specific conditions:
- More than 48 hours before departure: a 25% cancellation fee will be applied. Contact us with your transaction number, specifying the tickets you wish to cancel, and confirming your acceptance of the 25% cancellation fee. We will promptly proceed with processing your refund.
- The $3 reservation fee is non-refundable.
- Less than 48 hours before departure: no refunds are issued.
General FAQ’s & Policies
I have a reservation for the Parks Canada Shuttle – can I take Roam to get there?
No, if you have a reservation for the Parks Canada Shuttles to Lake Louise or Moraine Lake, you must drive to the Lake Louise Park & Ride, situated at the Lake Louise Ski Resort. We do not provide service to this location.
Can I bypass the walk-up line if I have another service booked, a dinner reservation, or a prior commitment?
No, if you don’t have a reservation for the next departure, you must join the back of the walk-up line, the wait time may be up to 2 hours. Please plan accordingly.
Are your buses wheelchair accessible?
Yes, all Roam buses are fully accessible with wheelchair ramp and kneeling capabilities to make getting on and off easier for everyone.
*Note: Currently Parks Canada shuttle buses are not wheelchair accessible, and offer limited accessibility, please contact Parks Canada directly for more information: 1-877-737-3783.
Can I bring my pet on board?
Roam buses permit pets, provided they are appropriately crated. Service dogs are always welcome onboard. For more information, please review our Pet Policy available here.
Can I bring my bike on board?
Exterior bike racks are provided on all Roam Transit buses on a first come first served basis. Each bus can carry up to 3 bikes at a time. Go to our Transportation Policies page to learn more.
Can I bring my stroller on board?
Yes, strollers are welcome on board all Roam buses. Be prepared to collapse / fold your stroller as they cannot be kept in the aisle or block doors.
Larger strollers, such as Chariots, may not be allowed if they are too large when folded and obstruct the middle aisle.
Can I bring bear spray on board?
Yes, however you must follow our bear spray policy outlined below:
Passengers carrying bear spray must keep it securely stored inside their bags while on Roam Transit buses. Bear sprays must be properly sealed, with the safety cap intact, and must be kept inside the passenger’s bag or backpack for the duration of the trip. Bear spray must not be carried in hand, placed on seats, or stored in any open or accessible manner during the ride.
Passengers are responsible for ensuring their bear spray is secured and stored in accordance with this policy.
Failure to comply with this policy may result in passengers being asked to leave the bus or have their travel restricted.
Can I bring luggage, or an inflatable Canoe/Kayak/SUP on board?
Our buses have limited onboard storage space and cannot accommodate hard-shelled canoes, kayaks, or SUPs. Any luggage or inflatable water equipment should fit comfortably on your lap during travel and must not occupy an extra seat or block the aisle. Transportation with these items cannot be guaranteed. Please note the use of personal water equipment is not permitted at Moraine Lake.
