Important Roam Service Information – All Routes Fare Free starting March 19th.

In response to COVID-19 developments, Roam Public Transit will be implementing the following service changes effective Thursday March 19^th.

All Routes are Fare Free

Starting March 19th, all Roam routes are Fare Free.

Fare Free allows Roam transit to provide our same level of service to our customers, while preserving a safe distance between Roam drivers and passengers.  All passengers must board and exit buses using rear doors to help protect our drivers.

For the safety of our drivers at this time, we ask that passengers keep at least 2 meters or 6 feet from Roam drivers at all times.

Limited bus capacity (75% of the bus seated capacity) is also in effect on all our buses – please see below for details.

Roam Office in Banff Closed

• As of March 19th, the Roam office in Banff will be closed to public access.  If you have questions regarding Roam services, please call 403-762-0606 between the hours of 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM to speak directly with a Customer Service agent.
• Lost and Found high value items (wallets, phones, laptops, identification etc) – Please call our office at 403-762-0606 to report or to arrange item pick-up if found.

75% Seated Bus Capacity Restrictions

In an effort to encourage social distancing, Roam Transit is implementing reduced capacity on all our routes.  This reduced capacity is set as 75% of bus seat capacity, which results in the following maximum bus capacity numbers by bus type:

• Nova buses – max # passengers on board is 27 (Typically on Banff local routes)
• MCI coaches – max # passengers on board is 37 (Typically on Lake Louise regional route)
• Cutaway buses – max # passengers on board is 15 (Typically on Banff Centre route 7)
• Vicinity buses – max # passengers on board is 18 (Typically on Canmore local routes)

This reduction will impact the number of passengers allowed on each bus.  We will do our best to add additional buses on busier routes and during peak travel times.

• We encourage all riders to be considerate of each other and provide as much space between one another as possible.
• Maximum capacities will likely result in the occasional full bus.  Please be respectful of the drivers as they are following the guidelines that we set out.  Also, please be considerate of the personal space of the drivers.

Route Specific Details

Lake Louise 8X and Canmore/Banff Regional Route 3

• Fare Free.
• Bus Capacity restrictions are in place – please see maximum bus capacity numbers listed above.
• We recommend adjusting your typical travel times if possible – take the later/earlier bus.

Canmore Local Route 5

• Bus Capacity restrictions are in place – please see maximum bus capacity numbers listed above.
• Canmore’s local Route 5 service is fare free.  Drivers will be limiting boarding and departing to the back doors of all buses.

Banff Local Routes 1 and 2 and 7

• Fare Free
• Bus Capacity restrictions are in place – please see maximum bus capacity numbers listed above.
